Husqvarna Group Company History

This corporation was established in 1689 as a rifle manufacturing plant. After a few years, the group was home to over 1,000 staff. The company manufactured its last rifle in 1989. Husqvarna’s country of origin is Sweden.

Husqvarna Group produced various products through the years, including kitchen equipment, sewing machines, motorcycles, and bicycles. The company created the first lawns mower in 1919, which began a revolution in backyard tools and outdoor products.

As mopeds, motorcycles, and bicycles became less prevalent, and forestry gained popularity in Sweden, the company made leaps into a new product category. Thus the first Husqvarna chainsaw was manufactured in 1959.

Here are other historic years for the company:

  • 1966: The Husqvarna 65A, the first Husqvarna-designed saw, is released.
  • 1968: The company presented the power cutter, which was essentially a redesigned saw
  • 1974: The Husqvarna 65L begin production in the Tomos factory, Yugoslavia.
  • 1995: This year saw the production of the first solar-powered robotic lawnmower in the world.
  • 2007: After acquiring Zenoah, Klippo, and Gardena, the company started expanding towards the watering area.
  • 2009: The company presented the remote-controlled demolition robot.
  • 2019: Husqvarna group manufactures an effective robotic lawnmower for demanding lawns.

The leading tool manufacturer currently produces various chainsaws, so you’re covered whether you wish to fell an entire forest or merely trim the Christmas tree!

For instance, the T435 delivers relatively limited power, which makes it ideal for trimming. The 130 is perfect for homeowners and provides 30 ccs, while something like the 592XP is at the other end of the spectrum at 90ccs.

Notably, the company isn’t only limited to chainsaws.

Other products by the Husqvarna brand include lawnmowers, stump grinders, diamond tools, sewing machines, and motorcycles. Since its establishment, the company has consistently enhanced its offering.

Where Are Husqvarna Chainsaws Made?

This green 281 XP was made in Sweden and Norway

The corporation has facilities located across Scandinavian nations, and most of them are situated in Sweden and China.

Husqvarna chainsaws are also made or assembled in Brazil from Swedish made parts, for example, the 390 XP and 395 XP.

If you’ve been asking yourself, “Is Husqvarna made in the USA?” then you have the answer; the brand also has a large Husqvarna manufacturing location in Nashville, Arkansas.

It is an 874,00 square foot facility that includes manufacturing for chainsaws, trimmers, and many other Husky products. It also serves as a warehousing and storage center.

The US site is also powered by a solar power plant – so for those of you who like that box ticked, there you go.

While several components are manufactured in facilities within China, it would be proper to conclude that the chainsaws are made around the world, but their home is Huskvarna, Sweden, and the brand is a significant part of Swedish history.

Evolution of Husqvarna Chainsaws

Husqvarna Group is among the pacesetters of chainsaw manufacturing, and woodcutters throughout the USA depend on most products. Since its establishment, the brand has seen continual changes over the period.

Let’s explore the chainsaw evolution:

  • Husqvarna 90 – This was the first chainsaw by the company and was unveiled in 1959.
  • Husqvarna 65 – The next launch was in 1966, but this product has always been ideal for domestic business and hasn’t been nominated for the international trade fair.
  • Husqvarna 50 Rancher – This was the company’s first sophisticated or all-around chainsaw. It entered the market in 1982.
  • Husqvarna 262 XP – Launched in 30 countries, this was the first production from the XP-series and comprised the air injection capability.
  • Husqvarna 394 XP – The manufacturer launched this variant in New Zealand and the USA in 1991. In 1997, the company unveiled the 335 XPT, considered the perfect tool for arborists.
  • Husqvarna 576 XP – This latest model is the most well-featured and advanced chainsaw manufactured by the brand.

Husqvarna Group’s Sub Brands

Besides its exciting history, Husqvarna Group also owns several sub-brands.

These include:

  • Gardena – This is among the best brands acquired by Husqvarna Group. Initially a German-based corporation, the company has been a Husqvarna sub-brand since 2007.
  • McCulloch – Initially, this was a subsidiary of Husqvarna Groups’ competitor, Electrolux. But the latter sold it to Husqvarna.
  • PoulanPro – The American-originated brand has been the most acceptable chainsaw subsidiary. Husqvarna group made the best decision to acquire it in 2006.
  • Weed Eater – Perfect for trimmers, this USA-originated brand first began its journey with Poulan. It has also been part of various brands, including Electrolux and Emerson Electric.
  • Flymo – This was also an Electrolux subsidiary, specializing in petrol-powered mowers. It’s a critical part of Husqvarna Group.
  • Jonsered – This Swedish-based manufacturer was initially part of AB Asken and Electrolux. But currently, the ancient brand is part of Husqvarna and produces multiple outdoor implements.
  • Diamond Boart – This famous global tool manufacturer has made Husqvarna Group a global leader.
  • Redmax – This vital Husqvarna subsidiary produces different mowers, blowers, and chainsaws, comprising unique features.

So often, even if you buying other chainsaw brands, you’re actually still within the extended Husqvarna family.

A Look into Husqvarna Museum

Being Sweden’s longest-serving brand, Husqvarna developed a memorial museum showcasing the heritage and products manufactured by the corporation. You’ll enjoy this visit because you’ll explore the oldest versions, limited editions, and those that are no longer available.

The industrial museum’s inauguration was on 27th April 1993 in its home country and contains Swedish championship bikes and legacy weapons. Notably, this is a child-friendly spot.

This museum was an incredible initiative, inspiring for anyone wishing to make the company heritage. It’s open every weekday between 10 AM and 5 PM and on weekends between 12 PM and 4 PM.

Who Makes Husqvarna Chainsaws?

Husqvarna Group commenced operations right when the industrial revolution was beginning.

While the company’s range of products has increased, similar to the number of Husqvarna chainsaws manufacturing locations and the nations the brand sells in, one thing has stayed constant: the chainsaws continue in large part to be manufactured in Sweden.

Ever since the company released its first chainsaw in 1959, production has continued to date. Perhaps in years to come, the brand will continue improving its chainsaw technology. But for now, Husqvarna Group is undoubtedly a brand worth considering when looking for perfect chainsaw varieties for different outdoor needs.

    • Aside from maybe the 455 and 460, the 400 series are low quality homeowner saws sold at box stores. An embarrassment to the brand.
