Capybara Stoves is a relatively new US-based mini wood stove company. They offer two different models: the Capybara Stove Mini and Capybara Stove XL. 

These wood stoves are designed especially for compact spaces like tiny homes, RVs, boats, cabins, and similar settings.

Overall, Capybara Wood Stoves are very well reviewed (and often sold out online), but people have a few complaints, which we’ll share below.

Capybara Vs. Cubic Mini

The brand competes on price with more established companies like Cubic Mini Wood Stoves and Dwarf Tiny Wood Stoves.

The comparison above is between the Capybara and Cubic Mini Grizzly. The Grizzly costs almost $1000, so there is a big difference between $349 and the mini Capybara when both stoves offer similar features and build quality.

Compared to the Grizzly, the Capybara is larger, appears more solid, and has a larger stovetop for cooking. The Grizzly has a rail surrounding the top, which can be removed, as we shared in our Cubic Mini tips round-up.

Cubic Mini Stoves are made in Canada, which may account for the higher price. While the Capybara Stove company is based in Nevada, USA, it’s unlikely the stoves are produced there (though confirmation of this isn’t stated on their website).

We studied the Capybara Wood Stove customer reviews and found the following pros and cons.

Unlike other mini wood-burning stove brands, Capybara doesn’t sell piping, exit kits, and other parts for a complete working install (at least, not yet). This means you need to try and source appropriate pieces yourself.

Some users find this complicated. However, Capybara Stove Company can likely make recommendations and offer guidance on what works best with their stoves.
