But who am I, and how did I get into chainsaws?
I grew up in the city and didn’t use chainsaws all that much. We live in a very cold climate where wood-burning stoves are in basically every home. Ours is burning full-time for about 8 months of the year.
Collecting, cutting, and stacking firewood has always been part of life for as long as we can remember, but it wasn’t until I was older that I got into using the chainsaws myself.
A number of years ago we bought a hobby farm (about 4 acres) that was covered with pine, macrocarpa, and gum trees, along with many others in smaller numbers.
Many trees have been felled and sold, but there are still dozens of large gums, macrocarpa, and pine trees that we’ll be using for firewood for a long time to come.
I bought my first chainsaw when we first moved to this property and discovered I loved them, which is why I ultimately decided to start this website.
My chainsaw collection is still small (a couple of Stihls, Husqvarnas, an old McCulloch, and a few mini chainsaws), but I’ll be adding to it as Naomi lets me ?.
I’ve also started getting into battery-powered chainsaws with the DEWALT 20v Chainsaw. It’s so easy to pick up and use for small pruning jobs.
I enjoy nothing more than getting down into the paddocks with a saw and trying out new chainsaws, and I hope to be doing a lot more of that in the future. Those trees aren’t going to cut themselves!
