Little Stihl 015 Bursts Into Consumer Market
A nation-wide television and consumer magazine advertising campaign is helping the introduction of the new Stihl 015 Automatic Chain Saw described as “light and handy, with power to spare.”
U.S. importer, Stihl American, Inc., Oakland, New Jersey, has introduced three variations of the new consumer-oriented mini-saw which are made to 1) be light and handy to use and carry; 2) dependable and virtually foolproof mechanically; and 3) mini-size but rugged enough to do a professional cutting job.”
The Standard 015 Automatic model, according to the manufacturers, offers the following convenience and performance features: integral bumper spike for control; automatic throttle latch for easy starting; and comes with combination wrench/screw driver, spark plug wrench, and protective bar scabbard.
Additional features of the Deluxe 015 Automatic include: safety hand guard for hand protection; throttle trigger interlock to avoid unintentional acceleration; 12″ hard-tip guide bar for greater cutting capacity; and a large-volume chrome plated muffler with special baffle system that assures quiet operation.
A third version is called the Electronic Deluxe 015 Automatic with Solid-State Ignition designed to eliminate breaker points, insure instant starting, extend spark plug life and provide maintenance-free operation. A Stihl American spokesman said that it is the only mini-size chain saw on the market with electronic ignition.
“In the same way that Stihl is a leader in the field as the little 020AV is, in being the only mini-size chain saw with a full anti-vibration system,” the spokesman told CSA.
