A good chiminea cover is essential to protect your fire pit and keep it in the best condition.
This is especially true if you have a clay chiminea, which rain can completely ruin. Cast iron chimineas will also rust if exposed to moisture.
Even a stainless steel chiminea is best kept under a cover to be ready to use when needed. There’s nothing worse than deciding you want to light the fire and then finding out the bowl is full of water!

Whether you have a cast iron chiminea, such as from the Blue Rooster Chiminea range, or a more traditional chiminea, it’s a good to protect it from the weather.
Ideally, you want to find one that goes right down to the ground or at least to the feet of your chiminea. A clay chimenea will usually be sitting in a metal frame, which is not as important to cover, but cast iron feet will need to be protected.
If there isn’t a specially designed chiminea cover for your specific model you will need to measure it to ensure you get the best cover with the right fit.
One measurement that is especially important to get right is the chimney height. If you order a cover that is too short in the chimney, it will affect the overall fit.
Here are the measurements you need to pick the right chiminea cover:
- Width at the top of the chimney
- The overall height and chimney height
- The width of the fire bowl
Also, you don’t want to pick a cover that is far too big as it will likely collect and hold rain, which could shorten the life of your cover.
1. Bali Outdoors Patio Chiminea Cover
This cover from Bali Outdoors is designed to fit the Bali Outdoors chiminea (here on Amazon).
However, it will fit a range of other chimineas as well if the dimensions are right, and it comes in a range of sizes.
The seller lists these other fire pit brands that it is compatible with:
- Endless Summer
- Blue Rhino
- Bond Lari
- Xtremenpower US
- Myrtle
- Hampton Bay
- Hiland Gas Firepit
However, make sure you double-check and confirm sizing before buying, even if your brand of fire pit is listed here.
This chiminea covering measures 43.3 inches high with a top diameter of 15 inches and a bottom diameter of 22 inches.
It is well designed for rain and moisture run-off. It has a bit of a point on top as well which keeps water from sitting and possibly freezing in the winter.
Features include:
- Made from 600D polyester fabric
- Protects from snow, dust, UV rays, wind, and water
- Comes with a handy carry bag
- Has an adjustable elastic hem
The main pro of this chiminea top cover is that it is designed for a specific model. This means it’s a nice snug fit. It’s a durable and tough cover that comes with a 12-month warranty but should last a lot longer.
The main con is that it won’t last forever. You should be able to get 2 or 3 winters out of it at least, but if it’s in an exposed area, it will deteriorate over time and need replacing.
2. SIRUITON Chiminea Fire Pit Cover
This cover from Siruiton is another affordable option available in different sizes.
Sizes are:
- Size 1 – 9 inch top x 48 inch high x 25 inch wide
- Size 2 – 13.38 inch top x 48 inch high x 25 inch wide
It’s only the top chimney diameter that changes between the two for those with a thicker or thinner smoke stack.
Features include:
- 420D Oxford+PU Coating Material
- Tear-resistant and dust-proof
- Easy to wipe clean with a damp cloth
- Corner fixing buckles
- Thick material
The main pro of this cover is the heavy-duty waterproofing material. It’s great in the severest of weather. The main thing I like about this one is the look – it’s a really tidy-looking cover.
The only con is that it doesn’t fit many chiminea fit pits (incompatible with the Bali Outdoors chiminea, for example).
3. Covermates Wide Cover For Chiminea
This cover will likely fit most clay chiminea and cover below the stand.
As expected, it repels rain and moisture and protects against the sun and wind.
However, this option is made of a thinner 300D polyester, meaning it’s not the best in harsh environments. Don’t get it if you’re in Texas or other locations with high UV intensity.
Dimensions are 12 inches in diameter at the top, height 40 inches, and bottom diameter 24 inches.
Features include:
- Drawcord to pull tight around the bottom
- Lightweight
- Will protect against snow
The big pro of this chimenea cover is that it’s a light option. Some of the covers we’ve listed weigh quite a bit more (which is good in some circumstances), so if you prefer a lighter option, this is it.
The main con is that this isn’t a cover for extreme climates. It won’t protect against the worst weather.
4. Classic Accessories Water Resistant Chimenea Cover
This cover from Classic Accessories is my favorite for style – I like the dual colors!
This is also one of the most feature-rich covers for chiminea.
Here’s what it includes:
- Padded handles for comfort
- Click-close straps for extra security
- Air vents that reduce inside condensation
- Elastic hem cord with toggle for a tight fit
- Gardelle durable woven polyester water-resistant fabric
It is 25 inches wide by 65 inches high at its widest, so this is good as a large chiminea cover.
It’s ultra water-resistant and fits in with the Classic Accessories range of outdoor furniture coverings.
The pros of this cover are its size and quality. It’s one of the best chiminea covers out there.
The main con is that it won’t fit every chiminea. It is shaped quite tightly so it will only work with a select range of tall fire pits.
5. Sturdy Covers Chiminea Top Cover
This cover from Sturdy Covers is one of the best-selling options.
It looks good, protects from the sun and rain, and will fit most chiminea shapes and sizes.
Features include:
- Designed to cover from top to bottom
- Has 3 leg straps
- Has a bottom elastic hem cord
Dimensions are 12.5″ top diameter x 40″ high x 24″ bottom diameter.
The pros of this cover are that it has been tried and tested by hundreds of people and is very well-reviewed. It does the job of protecting chiminea from the sun, rain, and wind.
The cons are that it’s a very small cover that won’t fit most chimineas.

Cover for chiminea
Hopefully, you’ve found the perfect water-resistant cover for your chiminea.
There are plenty of pre-made options with slightly different measurements, so getting the right size and shape shouldn’t be too tricky; however, if you can’t, remember Covers and All.
They can sew up the best cover with a perfect fit. If you have an expensive chiminea, getting a custom cover makes sense.
Covers not only protect from rain and moisture, but also from the harsh sun. You’ll want to protect your chiminea sitting on your porch, veranda, or balcony in California. Make sure you get a cover that is both UV-resistant and water-resistant.
Once your fire pit is all setup, check out this guide to cooking on a chiminea.
You mentioned that these chemenia coverings are like 600D or 300D polyester etc but you don’t actually explain what that means. Is higher or lower better? Is it like thread count?
Apologies for that! ‘D’ stands for denier. The lower number means lighter, thinner yarns were used, and vice versa for higher numbers. For this type of application, you would probably want a higher number for greater strength and durability.
