The STIHL MS 193 is the rear-handle version of the better-known MS 193 T, the top-handle model that’s often used for tree climbing. Both models were produced from 2014 to 2020.
The 193 is lightweight and designed primarily for homeowners, arborists, and professionals who need a nimble saw for pruning and limbing. It’s not a pro saw, but like the 193 T, some guys use it for commercial tree work.
STIHL MS 193 C press release
The following is STIHL’s April 2015 press release for the MS 193.
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.
The newest addition to the iconic line of STIHL chain saws, the STIHL MS 193 C-E, combines compact design with advanced engine technology and boasts one of the best power-to-weight ratios in its class. It’s ideal for homeowners looking for a rugged chain saw that is easy to handle. Its lightweight and balance make it a perfect choice for home tasks like storm cleanup, tree pruning, and light firewood cutting.
“This engine packs 1.3 kW of pro-level power, but its compact design and light weight make it easy to use,” said Kent Hall, STIHL Inc. senior product manager. “It’s also 20 percent more fuel efficient, reducing fuel costs, and produces less exhaust emissions, reducing its environmental impact.*”
Advanced engine technology in the MS 193 C-E helps prevent issues many chain saw users face. The IntelliCarb™ compensating carburetor delivers peak performance in a variety of conditions and automatically adjusts the air/fuel ratio to maintain the engine’s correct RPM when the air filter becomes clogged.
The MS 193 C-E is also equipped with several features that make it easy to operate, including the STIHL Easy2Start™ System, which requires less force to start the engine. The compact rear handle makes it easy to use in tight spaces, and using it for long periods of time won’t be a problem because the ergonomic design and anti-vibration elements make it more comfortable to handle. Tool-less fuel and oil tank caps make refueling and filling simple.

STIHL MS 193 C Price
At the time of writing, there is one MS 193 C for sale on eBay from seller ‘2000yrsfromhome‘, but they aren’t all that common and can be hard to track down.
This listing on eBay states:
STIHL Chainsaw MS 193 C Germany with Accessories Rare
Spring is here time to trim
STIHL Chainsaw MS 193 C Germany
Chain is made in Switzerland
Comes with all accessories
Lightweight chainsaw but powerful
The price is US $419 for this new in box chainsaw. It’s less than I expected!
These weren’t overly expensive saws when they were being produced, and I guess their value hasn’t increased a whole lot since.
