Tom Gray’s STIHL Military Chainsaw Collection

| | ,

Tom Gray of Canada has an incredible collection of military-version chainsaws. Most of them are STIHL, but he also has others.

They’re sometimes referred to as BUND chainsaws, which refers to chainsaws specifically produced for the German military (Bundeswehr) and other armed forces.

I’m only sharing the pictures here, but I will fill it out with more information soon.

More on the STIHL Contra military version here.

This BLK 57 was made in 1965 — list of production years for all models here.

This is another 1965 STIHL BLK 57, though one is a German version and one is Swiss.

For a short time in the US, the BLK was marketed as the STIHL BLITZ.

This last picture shows the “G Rack.”

These are STIHL gear-driven chainsaws, including the 041 G, 090 G, and Contra G.

The saw at the bottom right is a stone saw.
