New Features for Fast, Easy Cutting • Number One Tested Dependability

IN THE 1961 McCULLOCHS

Millions of actual cutting hours during the past year have proved that McCulloch Number One saws are the finest ever produced. In logging operations, in pulpwood cutting, and on farms—this basic design has passed every test for 1961. McCulloch offers you this same proved dependability, plus new features for easier, faster, more comfortable cutting. Here are typical examples of these new features:

NEW! Cooler and Quieter—New McCulloch muffler designs cut sound and soil heat. Illustration shows “Town & Country” two-position muffler on ONE/71 and ONE/81. Set it in “quiet” town position whenever noise is offensive, then shift to regular “Country” position when you want the full-throated power of the mighty ONE/71 and ONE/81 engines in the woods.

NEW! Easier Handling—Convenient rubber-lined pistol grip fits your hand better, with rubber-padded choke and oil buttons close for easy reach in any cutting position. Models ONE/71 and ONE/81 have aircraft-type Neoprene shock absorber mounts, with handlebar completely insulated from engine to reduce vibration. Rubber grips on handle frame soak up vibration, assure no-slip grip.

NEW! Peak Performance—Dependability comes first with McCulloch. Refinements of design add to staying power as well as power-per-pound. Examples are the new rear air intake ducts on the ONE/71 and ONE/81 to insure maximum flow of clean air into the carburetion system, and the new insulation and location of the fuel tank on the same models. This keeps fuel 20° cooler. Cool fuel gives better performance, easier starting, especially in hot weather.

Close-Ups on McCulloch Convenience, Performance and Dependability Features

(1) New rubber-padded pistol grips and handlebars; new exclusive shock absorber system on ONE/71 & ONE/81.
(2) Safety control panel, with fingertip controls for throttle, ignition switch, choke. Choke and oil buttons are rubber padded.
(3) New “Town & Country” muffler has two settings, plus air-cooled heat shield.
(4) Automatic rewind starter with molded-rubber handle and nylon rope, and positive action, durable automatic clutch.
(5) Coil weatherproofed in epoxy resin, for hot steady ignition in any weather.
(6) Exclusive 3rd porting and loop scavenging systems give top horsepower per lb.
(7) McCulloch cut at full power in all positions because of (a) aircraft-type carburetor (b) felt wick fuel pick-up and filter (c) efficient venting.
(8) Insulation and location of gas tank keeps fuel up to 20 degrees cooler.
(9) Precision anti-friction bearings yield economy, long life, and higher performance. High-pressure, die-cast special alloys keep engine weight down and strength up.

PROFESSIONALS choose McCullochs

In the big timber—in hot, cold, wet, dry, high, low, hilly, or bushy country—the men who get out the timber get McCullochs. That’s because McCulloch led the way in offering the first light-weight high-performance logging saw, and McCulloch has been first ever since with the qualities that professional loggers need most—dependability, performance, and convenience.

(1) All day felling is easier with a logger-styled McCulloch. New shock-absorber system on the gear-drive ONE/81 takes the jolt out of cutting. (2) Bucking is easier with ONE/71, with McCulloch’s exclusive Neoprene shock-absorber system to soak up tiring vibrations. The self-feeding action of the direct-drive saws lets you cut with a light touch. (3) For limbing in the big timber, you can’t beat a McCulloch ONE/71; it has compact size and light weight, plus new exclusive Super Pintail chain for high-speed cutting. (4) The mighty McCulloch 99, the most powerful saw in the McCulloch line, cuts through biggest trees with greatest ease.
