Every Jonsereds Chainsaw Model: Production Years and Specifications

| | ,

Jonsereds chainsaws are often mixed into much longer Jonsered model lists; however, this one is deliberately narrower.

It covers gasoline and corded-electric chainsaws sold with the old Jonsereds name, including documented regional names and a small group of transition-era saws that carried Jonsereds markings even after the company had started using Jonsered elsewhere.

For each saw, the list gives production years, engine displacement, advertised power, weight, and the guide-bar lengths supplied or recommended by the manufacturer.

Jonsereds became Jonsered

every jonsereds chainsaw

The original company was Jonsereds Fabrikers AB, and its chainsaws carried the possessive place-name Jonsereds.

The first Jonsereds Raket chainsaw appeared in 1954. Electrolux acquired the chainsaw business in 1979, and collector histories generally place the removal of the final “s” in the mid-1980s, often stating 1985 and citing marketing reasons. It was not a clean, one-day change.

A 1984 company circular (above) used the Jonsered name, while other period brochures and surviving early machines show Jonsereds on models such as the 420, 520SP, 490, and early 630, which came later.

This list follows the name found on period material and original machines, not a simple year cut-off. The later Jonsered 2000-series and CS-series saws are outside its scope. Husqvarna’s official brand history confirms the company’s 1954 launch, the 1979 Electrolux acquisition, and the eventual withdrawal of Jonsered products in 2022.

How to read the specifications

  • Production years are the best-supported range found. “Unknown” means that one or both ends of the run could not be verified. A split year such as 1955/1957 means the surviving sources disagree.
  • Power is usually the manufacturer’s advertised crankshaft output. Period test results can be lower than brochure claims.
  • Weight varies according to whether a source measured the bare powerhead, an equipped saw, or an equipped and fueled saw. The basis is stated whenever it is known.
  • Bar length means a factory-supplied or recommended range, not the longest bar somebody has managed to fit.
  • On these saws, E generally identifies electronic ignition and V generally identifies heated handles. Exact suffix use varied by model and market.

The main chronology comes from a surviving Jonsered factory model sheet, checked against period manuals, brochures, official test reports, and documented surviving saws.

Early Jonsereds Raket chainsaws

The first generation of Jonsereds used letter designations. The “19” seen in names such as XA-19 and XB-19 describes the 19-inch cutting equipment, not a separate chainsaw model.

Early production records are incomplete, so several dates remain approximate. The XA and XB manuals and the surviving XD manual are among the key period sources.

Jonsereds P

jonsereds model P
Images: Magnus on chainsawcollectors.se
  • Production years: Circa 1954; exact start and end unknown
  • Displacement: 50 cc
  • Power: 1.3 kW (about 1.7 hp) at 4,500 rpm
  • Weight: 10 kg (22 lb)
  • Bar length: 19 in minimum documented; maximum unknown

The P was the short transition model between Como production and the first XA. Very few are known. Its serial sequence appears to bridge the end of Como manufacture and the beginning of Jonsereds production.

Jonsereds XA Raket

Images: Magnus on chainsawcollectors.se
  • Production years: 1954-1960
  • Displacement: 50 cc
  • Power: 1.3 kW (about 1.7 hp) at 4,500 rpm
  • Weight: 10 kg (22 lb)
  • Bar length: 19 in minimum documented; maximum unknown

The XA used a semi-diesel or hot-bulb starting system. It could run on diesel, kerosene, or an oil-and-petrol mixture after its glow tube had been heated.

Jonsereds XB El-Raket

jonsereds el-raket
Images: Alex’s Jonsereds XB restoration
  • Production years: 1955/1957-1960
  • Displacement: 62 cc
  • Power: 1.69 kW (2.3 hp) at about 5,100 rpm
  • Weight: 9.47 kg (20.9 lb) basic; 11.4 kg (25.1 lb) with a 19 in bar and full tank in the official test
  • Bar length: 19 in documented; maximum unknown

The factory chronology gives 1955 as the introduction year, while commercial literature and the official test date from 1957. “El-Raket” referred to electric or magneto ignition, not an electric motor. The 1957 Swedish test measured 2.3 hp at the crankshaft.

Jonsereds XC

rare jonsereds xc
Images: Marshall T. on chainsawcollectors.se
  • Production years: 1955; end year unknown
  • Displacement: 50 cc
  • Power: 1.3 kW (about 1.7 hp) at 4,500 rpm
  • Weight: Unknown
  • Bar length: Unknown

The XC was a rare export-oriented derivative of the early semi-diesel Raket. Surviving examples are scarce enough that complete production specifications have not been established.

Jonsereds XD Raket

jonsereds raket xd
Images: Alex’s Jonsereds XD restoration
  • Production years: 1958-1962
  • Displacement: 85 cc
  • Power: Advertised 3.75 kW (5.1 hp); an official test measured 3.53 kW (4.8 hp) at about 6,650 rpm
  • Weight: 10.9 kg (24 lb) with a 19 in bar and chain; 12.2-12.5 kg (26.9-27.6 lb) fully fueled in the official test
  • Bar length: 19 in documented; maximum unknown

The XD retained geared drive and fuel injection. The official Swedish test report is especially useful because it distinguishes dry, equipped, and fully fueled weights.

Jonsereds XD Super

Images: Alaine Lamothe on vintagechainsawcollection.blogspot.com
  • Production years: Circa 1960-1962
  • Displacement: 85 cc
  • Power: About 3.5 kW (4.7 hp); exact factory rating varies by source
  • Weight: About 10.5 kg (23.1 lb); weighing basis unknown
  • Bar length: 19 in documented; maximum unknown

The XD Super used altered gearing to raise chain speed. It was a production variant of the XD, not a larger-displacement engine.

Jonsereds XF Raket, also sold as Jupiter II

jonsereds XF Raket
Images: Alex’s Jonsereds XF restoration
  • Production years: 1960-1969
  • Displacement: 110 cc
  • Power: 4.1 kW (5.5 hp) advertised
  • Weight: 12.2 kg (26.9 lb), fully fueled with a 16 in bar and chain
  • Bar length: 16-31 in

The XF was Jonsereds’ first direct-drive chainsaw. Jupiter II was a Finnish-market name for the same basic saw. A period XF manual survives in the collectors’ archive.

Jonsereds XG

  • Production years: 1963-1968
  • Displacement: 85 cc
  • Power: 2.7 kW (about 3.6 hp) at roughly 6,050 rpm
  • Weight: 7.85 kg (17.3 lb)
  • Bar length: Unknown

Jonsereds XH, also sold as Jonsereds 85 or Elfving 85

jonsereds xh raket chainsaw

  • Production years: 1965-1968; some collector references give a 1963 start
  • Displacement: 85 cc
  • Power: 2.7 kW (about 3.6 hp) at roughly 6,050 rpm
  • Weight: 7.75 kg (17.1 lb)
  • Bar length: Unknown

The 85 and Elfving 85 names are treated here as regional XH identities, not separate engine designs. The XH added automatic chain oiling to the same broad platform used by the XG.

The 60, 75, and 621 family

This family established the red-and-silver appearance most collectors associate with classic Jonsereds saws.

A period 601, 75, and RS60 brochure helps anchor the chronology, although the RS60 itself was a clearing saw and is not part of this chainsaw list.

Jonsereds 60

the raket 60 jonsereds

  • Production years: 1966-1973
  • Displacement: 56 cc
  • Power: 2.65 kW (about 3.6 hp) at 7,700 rpm
  • Weight: 6.23 kg (13.7 lb); weighing basis unknown
  • Bar length: 13-20 in

Jonsereds 75

jonsereds 75

  • Production years: 1967-1968
  • Displacement: 75 cc
  • Power: 2.9 kW (about 3.9 hp) at 7,000 rpm
  • Weight: 6.54 kg (14.4 lb); weighing basis unknown
  • Bar length: 15-24 in

Jonsereds 751

  • Production years: 1968/1969-1970
  • Displacement: 75 cc
  • Power: 2.65 kW (about 3.6 hp) at 7,700 rpm
  • Weight: 6.19 kg (13.6 lb); weighing basis unknown
  • Bar length: 15-24 in

The collector profile gives a 1968 start, while the factory chronology gives 1969.

Jonsereds 62

jonsereds 62 chainsaw

  • Production years: 1969-1970
  • Displacement: 56 cc
  • Power: 2.65 kW (about 3.6 hp)
  • Weight: About 6.9 kg (15.2 lb) with a 12 in bar and chain
  • Bar length: 12-20 in

Jonsereds 601

jonsereds 601 chainsaw
Images: Alex’s Jonsereds 601 restoration
  • Production years: 1969-1972
  • Displacement: 56 cc
  • Power: 2.65 kW (about 3.6 hp)
  • Weight: 6.19 kg (13.6 lb); weighing basis unknown
  • Bar length: 13-20 in

Red and blue versions of the 601 are documented. Color does not denote a separate model.

Jonsereds 621

  • Production years: 1970-1982
  • Displacement: 56 cc
  • Power: 2.65 kW (about 3.6 hp)
  • Weight: About 6.3 kg (14 lb), powerhead only
  • Bar length: 13-23 in

The 621 had one of the longest runs of any original Jonsereds design. Period 621 literature and a combined 621 and 80 brochure survive.

The Jonsereds 50, 51, 52, and 521 saws

These were the medium-size saws of the 1970s. Period records show running changes, especially to ignition and the model 50 cylinder, so specifications can differ between early and late examples.

Jonsereds 50, also sold as Raket 44

  • Production years: 1971-Unknown
  • Displacement: 44.3 cc early; about 49 cc on later examples
  • Power: About 2.0 kW (2.7 hp) at 8,000 rpm
  • Weight: 5.97 kg (13.2 lb); weighing basis unknown
  • Bar length: 13-18 in

Raket 44 was a Finnish-market name for the early 44 cc model 50, not another chassis. Period literature includes both a model 50 brochure and separate technical sheets for early and late production.

Jonsereds 51

  • Production years: 1971/1972-1973
  • Displacement: 49 cc
  • Power: 2.4 kW (about 3.2 hp) at 8,500 rpm
  • Weight: 6.18 kg (13.6 lb); weighing basis unknown
  • Bar length: 13-20 in

The collector profile gives a 1971 start, while the factory chronology gives 1972.

Jonsereds 52

  • Production years: 1971/1973-1982
  • Displacement: 49 cc
  • Power: Unknown
  • Weight: About 6.37 kg (14 lb); weighing basis unknown
  • Bar length: 12-18 in

The collector profile gives a 1971 start, while the factory chronology records 1973, possibly because it separates the plain points-ignition 52 from the 52E.

Jonsereds 52E

  • Production years: 1971-1982
  • Displacement: 49 cc
  • Power: 2.3 kW (about 3.1 hp) at 8,500 rpm
  • Weight: About 6.4 kg (14.1 lb)
  • Bar length: 12-18 in

The E version used electronic ignition. A period 52E sales brochure is available in the archive.

Jonsereds 521 and 521E

  • Production years: 1974-1976
  • Displacement: 49 cc
  • Power: 2.3 kW (about 3.1 hp) at 8,500 rpm
  • Weight: Unknown
  • Bar length: 13-20 in

The factory sheet abbreviates the model as 521, while surviving discussions and labels also use 521E. A commonly repeated 9.51 kg weight appears to be a transcription error, so it is not used here.

Jonsereds 521EV

  • Production years: Unknown; mid-1970s
  • Displacement: 49 cc
  • Power: Unknown; the 521 family was rated at about 2.3 kW
  • Weight: Unknown
  • Bar length: Unknown; 13-20 in was normal for the 521 family

The V suffix identified the heated-handle version. It is listed separately because original 521EV labels and references survive, even though a variant-specific specification sheet has not been found.

Compact and contract-built Jonsereds saws

Not every saw wearing a Jonsereds badge was designed or built at Jonsered. The Lil Jon was related to the Poulan Micro series, while the 36, 361, and 365 family came from the Canadian TML, Quadra, and Frontier manufacturing network.

They still belong in a model list because they were genuine Jonsereds-branded retail products. The model relationships are documented in the collectors’ saw cross-reference project.

Jonsereds Lil Jon

  • Production years: 1971-Unknown
  • Displacement: 34 cc
  • Power: Unknown
  • Weight: About 3.88 kg (8 lb 9 oz), powerhead only
  • Bar length: 12-16 in

Jonsereds Lil J 36

  • Production years: 1972-Unknown
  • Displacement: 34.4 cc
  • Power: Unknown
  • Weight: About 2.77 kg (6 lb 11 oz), powerhead only
  • Bar length: 12-16 in

Lil J 36 is a documented Canadian-market name. It should not be confused with the later model 36 from the TML family.

Jonsereds M36

  • Production years: 1973-Unknown
  • Displacement: 34.4 cc
  • Power: 1.3 kW (about 1.7 hp)
  • Weight: About 3 kg (6.75 lb); weighing basis unknown
  • Bar length: 12-16 in

Jonsereds 36

  • Production years: 1974-Unknown
  • Displacement: About 34 cc
  • Power: Unknown
  • Weight: Unknown
  • Bar length: 12-16 in

The 36 and M36 names are often merged in parts lists, but the factory chronology records a model 36 introduction in 1974 and collector cross-references identify more than one related TML platform. They are therefore retained as separate entries.

Jonsereds 361 and M361

  • Production years: 1976-Unknown
  • Displacement: 34.4 cc
  • Power: About 1.2 kW (1.6 hp)
  • Weight: About 4 kg (8.8 lb) with a 12 in bar and chain
  • Bar length: 12-16 in

Jonsereds 361AV and M361AV

  • Production years: 1976-Unknown
  • Displacement: 34.4 cc
  • Power: About 1.3 kW (1.8 hp)
  • Weight: About 2.77 kg (6 lb 11 oz), powerhead only, according to the surviving profile
  • Bar length: 12-16 in

AV identifies the anti-vibration version. AVB and HS suffixes also appear in parts and collector references, but no evidence was found that they changed the engine or constituted a separate base model.

Jonsereds 365 and M365

  • Production years: 1983-Unknown
  • Displacement: About 34 cc
  • Power: About 1.3 kW (1.8 hp)
  • Weight: About 2.77 kg (6 lb 11 oz), powerhead only
  • Bar length: 12-16 in

The 365 was a late member of the contract-built compact family. Original period material is known with the Jonsereds spelling, so it is included despite its post-acquisition introduction.

Large professional Jonsereds saws

The 80, 90, 110, and 111 families were designed for professional felling and bucking. These weights are particularly sensitive to configuration because full-wrap handles, chain brakes, long bars, and full tanks add several pounds.

Jonsereds 80

jonsereds 80 chainsaw

  • Production years: 1970-1980
  • Displacement: 80 cc
  • Power: 3.53 kW (about 4.7 hp) at 8,000 rpm
  • Weight: About 7.2 kg (15.9 lb), powerhead only
  • Bar length: 13-31 in

A period Jonsereds 80 brochure and workshop manual survive.

Jonsereds 801

jonsereds 801 chainsaw

  • Production years: 1970/1976-1980
  • Displacement: 80 cc
  • Power: 3.53 kW (about 4.7 hp)
  • Weight: About 7.48 kg (16.5 lb); weighing basis unknown
  • Bar length: 15-23 in

The collector profile gives a 1970 start, while the factory chronology records 1976, so catalogue dating and surviving serial evidence do not line up cleanly. It is a rare saw and is sometimes mistaken for a supposed model 81.

Jonsereds 110

  • Production years: 1972-1980
  • Displacement: 110 cc
  • Power: 4.8 kW (about 6.4 hp) at 7,600 rpm
  • Weight: About 8.75 kg (19.3 lb); weighing basis unknown
  • Bar length: 23-35 in

Jonsereds 111

  • Production years: 1973-1980
  • Displacement: 110 cc
  • Power: Unknown
  • Weight: Unknown
  • Bar length: Unknown

The plain 111 is present in the factory chronology and period parts records, but most surviving literature covers the better-known 111 Super.

Jonsereds 111 Super and 111S

Image: David Lucia
  • Production years: 1973-1980
  • Displacement: 110 cc
  • Power: 4.8 kW (about 6.4 hp) at 7,600 rpm
  • Weight: About 9.2 kg (20.3 lb), powerhead only
  • Bar length: 23-35 in

111 Super and 111S are two forms of the same model designation. Period 111 and 111S literature covers both.

The Jonsereds 45, 451, and 452 family

This 44 cc family went through several structural and equipment revisions. In general, E denotes electronic ignition and V denotes electrically heated handles. The 452N was a specialized Scandinavian felling version.

Jonsereds 45 and 45E

  • Production years: 1975-1983
  • Displacement: 44.3 cc
  • Power: About 2.1 kW (2.8 hp) at 9,000 rpm
  • Weight: About 5.49 kg (12.1 lb); weighing basis unknown
  • Bar length: 12-18 in

The factory chronology shortens the name to 45, while surviving model references commonly use 45E for the electronically ignited saw.

Jonsereds 45EV

  • Production years: 1975-1983
  • Displacement: 44.3 cc
  • Power: About 2.1 kW (2.8 hp) at 9,000 rpm
  • Weight: Unknown
  • Bar length: 12-18 in

The 45EV added heated handles. A period 45EV document is preserved in the archive.

Jonsereds 451E

  • Production years: 1976-1983
  • Displacement: 44 cc
  • Power: 2.0 kW (about 2.7 hp) at 9,300 rpm
  • Weight: 6.1 kg (13.4 lb) with a 12 in bar and chain
  • Bar length: 12-15 in

Jonsereds 451EV

  • Production years: 1976-1983
  • Displacement: 44 cc
  • Power: 2.0 kW (about 2.7 hp) at 9,300 rpm
  • Weight: 6.3 kg (13.9 lb) with a 12 in bar and chain
  • Bar length: 12-15 in

The extra 0.2 kg reflects the heated-handle equipment. The figures are also reproduced in surviving 451E and 451EV documentation.

Jonsereds 452

  • Production years: Unknown; it falls within the 1977-1983 model 452 production run
  • Displacement: 44 cc
  • Power: 2.0 kW (about 2.7 hp) at 9,300 rpm
  • Weight: About 6.15 kg (13.6 lb); weighing basis unknown
  • Bar length: Unknown

Jonsereds 452EV

  • Production years: 1977-1983
  • Displacement: 44 cc
  • Power: About 2.0 kW (2.7 hp) at 9,300 rpm
  • Weight: Unknown
  • Bar length: Unknown

The 452EV added heated handles to the 452 platform. It is confirmed by surviving serial-number records and an illustrated-parts-list reference, including in the collectors’ 452 and 452N model record.

Jonsereds 452N

  • Production years: Unknown; late 1970s to early 1980s
  • Displacement: 44 cc
  • Power: About 2.0 kW (2.7 hp)
  • Weight: Unknown
  • Bar length: Unknown

The 452N incorporated the Nordfeller felling cushion and was intended for specialized directional felling. It was not a new engine size. Period 452N literature confirms the designation.

Other 1970s Jonsereds chainsaws

Jonsereds 66E

  • Production years: 1975/1976-Unknown
  • Displacement: 61.5 cc
  • Power: 2.65 kW (about 3.6 hp) at 7,500 rpm
  • Weight: About 7.9 kg (17.5 lb) with a 15 in bar and chain
  • Bar length: 13-19 in

The factory sheet gives a 1975 introduction, while the main collector profile gives 1976. Both years are retained rather than forcing a false precision.

Jonsereds 49SP

  • Production years: 1976-1982
  • Displacement: 49 cc
  • Power: 2.2 kW (about 3.0 hp) at 8,100 rpm
  • Weight: About 5.95 kg (13.1 lb); another period configuration is approximately 6.7 kg equipped with a 16 in bar
  • Bar length: 12-18 in

SP identified the lighter semi-professional model. Weight figures differ because some sources quote the saw without cutting equipment and others quote an equipped saw. The 49SP owner’s manual is available online.

Jonsereds 70

jonsereds 70

  • Production years: 1976/1977-1983
  • Displacement: 69 cc
  • Power: 3.2 kW (about 4.3 hp) at 8,500 rpm
  • Weight: About 7.5 kg (16.5 lb); weighing basis unknown
  • Bar length: 12-22 in

The factory chronology gives 1976, while some collector references date retail introduction to 1977.

Jonsereds 70E

  • Production years: 1978/1979-Unknown
  • Displacement: 69 cc
  • Power: About 3.2 kW (4.3 hp) for the 70 family; variant-specific rating unknown
  • Weight: Unknown
  • Bar length: 16-24 in

The 70E was the electronic-ignition member of the family. Sources disagree by roughly one year on its introduction.

Jonsereds 90

jonsereds 90 chainsaws

  • Production years: 1975-1980
  • Displacement: 87 cc
  • Power: 3.8 kW (about 5.1 hp) at 8,500 rpm
  • Weight: About 7.49 kg (16.5 lb), powerhead only
  • Bar length: 15-23 in

The last original Jonsereds designs: 410, 510, and 910

Collectors commonly describe the 410, 510, and 910 families as the last chainsaw designs substantially completed by the old Jonsereds organization before or during the Electrolux purchase. That does not mean every component was made at the original factory, but it explains why these three families form a natural end point for the independent Jonsereds era. The distinction is discussed in the collectors’ Jonsered or Jonsereds research thread.

Jonsereds 410

jonsereds 410 chainsaw

  • Production years: 1979-1981
  • Displacement: 35 cc
  • Power: 1.8 kW (about 2.4 hp) at 10,500 rpm
  • Weight: About 4.2 kg (9.3 lb); weighing basis unknown
  • Bar length: 13-20 in

Jonsereds 510

  • Production years: 1979-1984
  • Displacement: 49 cc
  • Power: 2.35 kW (about 3.2 hp) at 9,500 rpm
  • Weight: About 4.0 kg (8.8 lb); weighing basis unknown
  • Bar length: 13-20 in

Jonsereds 510SP

  • Production years: 1979-Unknown
  • Displacement: 49 cc
  • Power: 2.4 kW (about 3.2 hp) at 9,500 rpm
  • Weight: 4.9 kg (10.8 lb) with a 12 in bar and chain in one Swedish record; another profile gives 5.76 kg (12.7 lb), so configuration matters
  • Bar length: 13-18 in

The 510SP brochure and specification record gives the lower equipped weight. Period Jonsereds documentation also exists in the collectors’ archive.

Jonsereds 910

  • Production years: 1979-1982 in the surviving model profile; regular production status is disputed
  • Displacement: 87 cc for the listed production saw; a separate 100 cc prototype is also reported
  • Power: Unknown
  • Weight: Unknown
  • Bar length: 20-36 in

The plain 910 is the least settled entry in this family. It appears on the factory model chronology and in a detailed model profile, but experienced collectors report that the well-known 100 cc 910 was a prototype and that normal production centered on the 86 cc 910E. It is included so the documented designation is not silently lost, but it should not be treated as a common production saw.

Jonsereds 910E

custom jonsereds chainsaw
Image: custom Jonsereds 910E by Tute Di Tella (Facebook/Instagram)
  • Production years: 1979-Unknown
  • Displacement: 86-87 cc
  • Power: Unknown
  • Weight: About 6.8 kg (15 lb), powerhead only
  • Bar length: 15-36 in

Jonsereds 910EV

  • Production years: 1979-Unknown
  • Displacement: 86-87 cc
  • Power: Unknown
  • Weight: About 6.8 kg (15 lb), powerhead-only figure for the E/EV family; exact EV weight unknown
  • Bar length: 15-36 in

The 910EV added heated handles. Surviving owner’s and parts manuals commonly cover the 910E and 910EV together.

Jonsereds-branded transition models

These saws need their own section. They were introduced after Electrolux took control, and several were Partner- or Husqvarna-related designs. Even so, original advertisements, decals, castings, or early machines document the final “s.”

Later examples and service publications often say Jonsered. The production range below therefore distinguishes the full model run from the shorter Jonsereds-marked period wherever possible.

Jonsereds 420

  • Production years: 1981-1985
  • Displacement: 35 cc
  • Power: 1.8 kW (about 2.4 hp) at 10,500 rpm
  • Weight: About 5.3 kg (11.7 lb) with an 11 in bar and chain
  • Bar length: 11-16 in

The period Jonsereds 420 brochure prints the old spelling prominently on its cover.

Jonsereds 520SP

  • Production years: 1981-1984
  • Displacement: 49 cc
  • Power: Unknown
  • Weight: About 5.67 kg (12.5 lb) with a 15 in bar and chain
  • Bar length: 12-20 in

The original Jonsereds 520SP brochure confirms that this model was marketed with the final “s.”

Jonsereds 490

  • Production years: Jonsereds-marked examples circa 1982-1984; the model continued as Jonsered to about 1989
  • Displacement: 49 cc
  • Power: 2.5 kW (about 3.4 hp) at 10,000 rpm
  • Weight: About 5.8 kg (12.8 lb) with a 15 in bar and chain
  • Bar length: 13-18 in

The 490 was related to the Partner P500/P5000 family. Early advertising and crankcases document Jonsereds, while a November 1985 parts list already carries the singular Jonsered logo.

Early Jonsereds 630

  • Production years: Jonsereds-marked examples circa 1982-1983; the 630 line continued as Jonsered to 1997
  • Displacement: 61.5 cc
  • Power: About 3.1 kW (4.2 hp)
  • Weight: About 7.1 kg (15.7 lb) with a 15 in bar and chain
  • Bar length: 13-24 in

Early 1982-83 machines survive with Jonsereds decals. By the time of the April 1985 630 parts list, factory literature used Jonsered. Later 630 Super, Super II, and West Coast versions are therefore Jonsered models and are not separate entries here.

Jonsereds 820

  • Production years: 1984-circa 1986; Jonsereds markings are documented on early machines
  • Displacement: 80-80.7 cc
  • Power: Unknown
  • Weight: About 8.75 kg (19.3 lb) with a 16 in bar and chain
  • Bar length: 16-29 in

The 820 is listed as a 1984 introduction on the factory chronology. Original decals with Jonsereds survive, although the September 1984 parts book already displays the singular company logo.

Jonsereds 920

jonsereds 920 chainsaw

  • Production years: 1982-1986; the final “s” is documented on early saw decals
  • Displacement: 87 cc
  • Power: Unknown
  • Weight: About 8.8 kg (19.4 lb) with a 16 in bar and chain
  • Bar length: 16-36 in

Jonsereds 920 Super

  • Production years: Circa 1984-1986; a factory parts list is dated 1985
  • Displacement: 87 cc
  • Power: Unknown
  • Weight: Unknown
  • Bar length: 16-36 in

Surviving machines and replacement copies of original decals use Jonsereds, while the October 1985 920 Super parts book uses Jonsered. That mixed evidence is exactly why the transition models are separated from the main list.

Jonsereds 1020

  • Production years: 1982-Unknown; Jonsereds-marked examples belong to the early run
  • Displacement: 100 cc
  • Power: Unknown
  • Weight: About 10.3 kg (22.7 lb) with a 22 in bar and chain
  • Bar length: 22-36 in

The 1020 was based on the Partner P100 platform. Original-style Jonsereds decal patterns are documented, but a reliable end date for the S-badged version has not been established.

The Jonsereds EL-14 electric chainsaw

The EL-14 is easy to miss because most historical lists cover only gasoline saws. It also captures the name transition unusually well: the brochure cover and the saw itself say Jonsereds, while a headline inside the same brochure says Jonsered.

Jonsereds EL-14

  • Production years: Jonsereds-marked examples circa 1984-1985; the model continued as Jonsered to at least 1990
  • Displacement: Not applicable; corded electric motor
  • Power: 1.4 kW
  • Weight: About 3.7 kg (8.2 lb)
  • Bar length: 13-16 in (33-40 cm)

An original Jonsereds EL-14 sales brochure shows the old spelling on the cover and saw casing. A documented surviving EL-14 supplies the power, weight, and bar-length figures. A January 1990 parts record confirms that the model continued after the name had settled on Jonsered.

Borderline and incompletely verified designations

Two names appear in respected model indexes or on surviving components but lack the same level of factory documentation as the saws above. Listing them here is more useful than either pretending certainty or omitting them without explanation.

Jonsereds 425

  • Production years: Unknown
  • Displacement: 35 cc
  • Power: Unknown
  • Weight: About 5.4 kg (11.9 lb) with an 11 in bar and chain
  • Bar length: 11-16 in

The 425 appears in the long-running collector specification database and in period-style bar and clutch fitment records. No factory brochure, parts book, or clearly original S-badged survivor was found during this research. Treat it as a provisional production designation.

Jonsereds-marked 435

  • Production years: 1985-1989 for the model; S-marked components appear to be confined to early or mixed-production examples
  • Displacement: 35.2 cc
  • Power: Unknown
  • Weight: About 4.95 kg (10.9 lb), powerhead only
  • Bar length: 11-16 in

The 435 was marketed in the singular Jonsered era, but early saws have been documented with Jonsereds cast into the top cover or other mixed markings. It is included as a physical transition anomaly, not as a wholly Jonsereds-era design.

Names that are not separate Jonsereds chainsaw models

Several numbers and suffixes can make an “all models” list look larger than it should:

  • XA-19, XB-19, and XD-19 are 19-inch bar configurations, not separate engine models.
  • El-Raket is the XB, Jupiter II is the Finnish XF, Raket 44 is the Finnish model 50, and 85/Elfving 85 is a regional XH identity.
  • 111 Super and 111S are the same model naming, as are several E/EV family references where one manual covers both variants.
  • Jonsereds 81 was not a normal factory model. Collector research concluded that the known “81” is an 801 given a distributor or West Coast identity. The model 81 investigation explains the misidentification.
  • Jonsereds 77 appears as an empty or inherited database entry, but no factory literature or verified production saw was found. It is not counted here.
  • RS60, RS601, RS52E, MK70, K80/MK80, and related names were clearing saws, brushcutters, rail or cut-off saws, not ordinary guide-bar chainsaws. They are outside this article.
  • 450 and 525 were introduced in 1984, but period company advertising already calls them Jonsered. They are excluded because this is a spelling-based Jonsereds list, not a list of everything the corporate group sold before 1985.
  • EL1200 appears in later fitment catalogues, but no period Jonsereds-branded document or clearly original S-marked machine could be verified. It is not counted here. The EL-14 is included because both forms of evidence survive.
  • 35, 370, 380, 455, 535, 590, 625, 670, 830, 930, the 2000-series, and the CS-series belong to the later Jonsered brand. Owners and parts sellers sometimes add an “s” conversationally, but the original model identity is Jonsered.

Research notes and sources

The most useful source collections were:

Because factory records, export names, and surviving decals do not always agree, this should be treated as a researched working catalogue rather than a claim that every number is beyond revision. A dated factory document or an unquestionably original survivor should take precedence over an unsourced online specification.
