The Modern Husqvarna 281 XP Chainsaw (Made in Brazil)

| | , ,

This is a modern Husqvarna 281 XP chainsaw.

While the 281 XP was discontinued for most markets back in 2001, it is still being made in Brazil today for some countries. It’s the same story with the 281’s big brother, the 288 XP.

The saw pictured here was listed on eBay by seller ‘szabsa76’ in January 2026, where it sold for approx. EUR 1,000.00.

New Husqvarna 281 XP

Here’s how Husqvarna describes today’s version of the 281 XP:

Husqvarna 281XP belongs to the family of large-displacement professional chainsaws.

Produced in Brazil and like all Husqvarna machines, the 281XP has an excellent power-to-weight ratio. High power, robustness and efficient dampened systems are important factors in facing the toughest working conditions on a daily basis.

Features:

  • Adjustable oil pump – allows adjustment of chain lubrication according to needs.
  • Magnesium crankcase – developed to withstand high rotations and intensive professional use, ensuring longer product life.
  • Crankshaft – in three forged pieces, it provides exceptional durability in the most severe applications.
  • Easy to hold – angled front handle allows for more comfort and safety, providing a more ergonomic working position.
  • Inertial chain brake – effective chain brake with inertia drive.

You can compare this version of the 281 with the an older army-version 281 XP here.
