Back in 2021, a member of the STIHL Chainsaw Fans FB group shared these images of a Christmas gift he’d received.
You can see the post here.
It’s the STIHL Drum Grill, a rare piece of STIHL merch that was only for sale through a select number of dealers and only for a short time.
The member asked:
Has anyone seen this Stihl Drum Grill before?
My brother and sister-in-law gave it to me for Christmas. I’ve looked all over Stihls website to include their international site and can’t find another one like it. It was purchased from an authorized Stihl dealer in Northern Arizona.
They said they are extremely rare and were only shipped out in limited quantities. According to Drum Grills website they are based out of The Netherlands. Would like to know more about the Stihl connection if anyone knows anything.
Thanks! #stihl #stihlusa #drumgrill
Here are some of the more enlightening comments he got in response…
Josh said:
I’ve been selling Stihl for 15 years or so. That’s the second one I’ve seen. The other is at one of our stores in Phoenix.
I’m wondering if it was a dealer freebie from Pacific Stihl for placing a certain dollar order or something.
I’ve gotten other things likes stools and stuff that weren’t available to the public.
Tijn said:
Correct! Dutch dealer here, we were able to purchase/win these for a limited time. Not sure exactly how, but I do recognize it.
Nice gift! 👍
And when someone else suggested someone was breaking trademarks to make them without permission, Robin replied:
They’re legit. I’ve got a pallet of them in the BME whse.
Other comments ranged from “I’d never use it n keep it as a collectible” to “As soon as you burn it the paint burns off the outside,” but the consensus was that it’s another cool piece of STIHL Chainsaw merch.
Others said:
- “Someone should start a Stihl drum band!”
- “Pacific STIHL has them in stock.”
- “They were a promotion thing very limited don’t use it it’ll be worth a lot a lot of money one day.”
- “Dang this is awesome.”
And Kenneth asked:
Cool. Are there vents that attach?
Drum smokers I have seen would have adjustable air vents to help control temperature.
I would do a fire in it first before cooking in case they didn’t use a high heat paint. Wouldn’t want to taint your first cook. Congratulations!
To which the orignal poster replied:
Much appreciated! I love this gift and appreciate the feedback.
No vents, honestly I will probably never use it for it’s intended purpose.
Might store a few high-end powerheads in it.
A cool product.
