Husqvarna 272 XP Chainsaw Specifications and Features

| | , ,

The Husqvarna 272 XP was introduced in 1993, but discontinued for most markets in 1997 because it did not meet updated exhaust emissions requirements.

However, today, the chainsaw model, along with other Husqvarna models, is still produced and sold in countries with less stringent emissions standards, such as South Africa, India, and many others.

The 272 XP is considered by users to be an excellent saw, and it’s said, “a well ported 272 will walk all over a stock 372 X-Torq.”

Current models

What’s “the modern/current 272XP equivalent” in western markets?

As said above, the 272 XP is an older 70cc-class pro saw that isn’t EU-distribution compliant for exhaust emissions (per Husqvarna’s current 272XP/272XPG operator manual), which aligns with why it shows up on non-EU regional sites.

In North America / much of Europe / other “western” markets, the current-generation Husqvarna 70cc pro platform is the 572 XP (and the heated-handle 572 XP G where offered). Husqvarna’s own product pages describe the 572 XP as a professional ~71cc saw with modern design/features.

Where does the 372 XP fit?

The 372 XP X-Torq is also a ~71cc professional saw and is still listed/supported for sale in some western markets (e.g., Husqvarna US/Canada pages).

But it’s generally viewed as the previous-generation option compared to the 572 XP. Husqvarna positions the 572 XP as having higher cutting capacity than prior models “in the same class,” and industry coverage framed the 572 XP as part of Husqvarna’s newer-generation pro launches.
