Atom 706 Chainsaw Specifications

The Atom 706 was an Australian-made chainsaw produced by Atom Industries during the company’s short-lived chainsaw manufacturing period in the 1970s. Atom developed its own chainsaw range in Australia, with the 706 forming part of a family of machines that included the 705 and larger 708.

The 706 is a 60 cc saw and surviving machines are particularly recognizable by their large perforated metal top cover and the “Self Cleaning Air Filter” label, not to mention the “706 ATOM” on the side cover.

Atom’s chainsaw production appears to have lasted only a few years. The best available evidence places the range broadly in the 1972-1976 period, although the exact production dates of individual models, including the 706, are not available.
