From the 2002 listing:

  • The engine is positioned lengthwise for a slim, easy to handle saw
  • Transparent window makes it easy to check chain oil level
  • Powerful motor with replaceable carbon brushes
  • Double acting chain brake, right hand guard and chain catcher make the saw safer to use

This is the description from an old Northern Tool listing for the model:

A truly professional saw, our 316 electric saw satisfies the same tough professional demands on reliability, safety and ergonomics as all Husqvarna saws.

With its long, slim body, powerful electric motor, low vibration levels and low noise levels, this saw is useful both inside and out. Easy to operate and versatile saw for homeowner and part-time use.

Our demands on safety, function, ergonomics and reliability are all proven in this chainsaw. Sealed ball bearings. In-line helical drive system creates a narrow saw with great maneuverability.

Reviews

The listing has some good user reviews, like this one:

We own a farm and multiple other chainsaws. I bought this for more use at home but now using more at the farm as well. Good power with a low noise level which is good if you’re developing tinnitus issues. As another reviewer points out, “YOU MUST DISENGAGE THE CHAIN BRAKE LEVER IN FRONT OF YOUR LEFT HAND! IT IS STIFF AND REQUIRES SOME FORCE TO MOVE! DO THIS AND THE SAW WILL RUN!” This even got me at first as the chain brake on this saw takes a lot of force to disengage, it feel totally different then other saws including the gas Husky that I also have. Don’t do this and you will believe the saw is defective. The only other fault with the saw is with it’s one bolt bar clamp setup sometimes the bar can move and let the chain jump off the bar. It mostly happens if you are delimbing and bounce the bar between limbs. Learn not to do that and you’re good.

And this one:

So far so good. ok – if you are used to a gas powered saw, this one initially sounds like a toy. BUT – it does the job. a full cord of wood later the saw was still buzzin along nicely. I’ll have another cord or less to cut this year yet – and going forward up to 3 per year. fingers crossed it holds up as well as the 2 stroke saws I’ve previously owned. fatigue is less; and I honestly forgot to use the hearing protection so maybe its not much more than a table saw or a chop saw?? I’ll come back in a year or two to give it 5 stars if it lasts like the gas powered saws did – but for now – only 4 stars but no issues whatsoever.
